The Chairman of the National Peace Council, Reverend Dr. Ernest Adu Gyamfi, has called for respect from the public towards the council’s work. Speaking at a meeting with executives of various political parties in Accra, he emphasized that the council is made up of eminent persons serving the society and is not a paid job. Reverend Gyamfi noted that the proliferation of hate speech and other forms of indecent expressions has grown suddenly, particularly during election years.

He lamented that the media often gives people the platform to abuse the council and urged the public to be measured in their criticism. The National Peace Council has been actively working to ensure peace in the country, with 292 cases on its lap, 112 of which are chieftaincy issues.

Reverend Gyamfi reiterated that the council was not asleep, and its members were seriously working to ensure peace in the country.

He urged the public to understand that the council’s work is not limited to politics and called for more respect towards the council’s efforts. The National Peace Council plays an essential role in ensuring peace and stability in the country, and it is crucial that the public supports its efforts.
